This is the English Electric Lightning, built with just one purpose: To get to altitude FAST to intercept Russian strategic bombers, hence the two engines on such a small aircraft. If Russia is as peace-loving as you say, why did they waste money on this?
And why did Germany persevere with the F 104 "widow maker" if their neighbour was so peaceful?
