Mr Dutton prides himself on his conservatism. That is who Mr Dutton is.
He is probably the most conservative member of the House.
As such he is closer to Mr Abbott than Mr Turnbull.
But on Thursday , in answer to an ALP question, he had to imply that Mr Abbott's office either knew of his arrangements with Sen Leyon...or should have known. This was in direct and flat contradiction of Mr Abbott's sudden appearance on the 7:30 report the evening previous evening in which he protested his innocence of deals on guns with Sen Leyon........
Thus under parliamentary privilege he had to throw Mr Abbott under a bus, as Mr Shorten later said.

This is only a rumour , but it is persisting.
The rumour is.
Mr Abbott knew that Mr Dutton would be called on by the ALP to answer a question in relation to Sen Leyon....... So Mr Abbott agreed to meet Mr Dutton before QT.
He did not.
