However, far more chance that you will find many Christians speaking out about those disgusting priests than you will about perfectly peaceful Muslims speaking out about their dirty laundry. Further, I don't see pedophilia being condoned in the New Testament, but it appears the beating with light hands is indeed a part of the Koran which appears to be proudly defended by the head of the Islamic peak body.
Two major issues here:
1/ Beating is condoned by the Koran and those that speak for it
2/ The ability for peaceful muslims to speak against this practice might well be hamstrung for fear of excommunication - and we know what comes with apostasy...
