I have experience of living and working there in Saudi in late 1970s. Actually the people were OK at that time although it was a medieval political system. I don't know why they became so objectionable and extreme in the 1980s onwards..........they seemed to develop a hatred of the West. Both Malaysia and Indonesia have IS sympathisers. Whilst Indonesia has economic growth and democratisation I think they will keep a lid on it. Malaysia is sinking fast under corruption and racial tension. Could be problems there before long.
