Breaker Resources (ASX:BRB) is preparing to make a discovery at its Lake Roe gold project in 100 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia with new drilling in an area which produced grades over 7g/t.
Breaker is starting a 6,400-metre aircore drilling campaign on two separate zones of gold mineralisation more than 2 kilometres long each.
These zones were identified in earlier reconnaissance work which demonstrated significant shallow oxide mineralisation considered likely to lead to a discovery if continuity and geometry can be established in the current exploration program.
Oxide gold mineralisation at Lake Roe has delivered a 20-metre intersection grading 1.63g/t gold from 28 metres, including 4 metres at 7.38g/t gold.
While 160 holes of the 180-hole program will focus on this area, the remaining 20 holes will test the regionally extensive Claypan shear zone situated on a sheared granite contact only 400 metres to the east.
Mineralisation in this area is currently defined by two 1.6 kilometre-spaced drill holes, one of which encountered an intersection of 20 metres at 0.39g/t gold, including 4 metres at 1.27g/t gold to the immediate west of the granite contact
Sampling work here has identified underlying sheared pyritic basalt anomalous in gold up to 0.30g/t, silver up to 0.15g/t, tungsten, sulphur, lead and molybdenum.
The cohesive nature of gold, silver and tungsten in the project area bedrock is considered encouraging in that it suggests a pervasive alteration system of scale.
The upcoming 180-hole program is expected to take 3-4 weeks to complete with full results to be available 3-4 weeks from completion of drilling.
