Spot gold finished its most recent session 0.7% lower at US$1190 an ounce.
There were no futures trading overnight on the Comex in New York due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
In other metals, silver is off 2.1% to US$16.30 an ounce.
Platinum is 0.9% softer at US$1218 an ounce, while palladium is 0.4% higher at US$806 an ounce.
