Electronic gold is currently trading at firmer US$1160 an ounce at 2.20pm Sydney, Australia time, as Asian markets open.
In the local money and with the AUD / USD 0.734, this puts the yellow metal over A$1570 an ounce.
And it appears investors are warming back to ASX gold stocks with Brazilian explorer BBX Minerals (ASX:BBX) jumping by more than 100% today after its first hole delivered visible gold.
Also focussed in South America is Orinoco Gold (ASX:OGX) which is up 6% today to $0.185, and is close to double where it traded just six weeks ago.
The buying is flowing through to producers, with Silver Lake Resources (ASX:SLR) jumping 17% to $0.21.
