Change the date fine but whatever date is chosen there will be calls to not celebrate at all and marches and protests. If an inch is given a mile will be taken, keep giving until one day there will be nothing left in the tank to give. Some people are going to feel backed in a corner and will have no recourse but to get angry, very angry. They are basically being told they have no history, no right and no claim to this country ... that they built.
For me, not bothered change the date but one would be silly to expect nirvana out of this. The best indicator of future behavior is past behavior IMHO. Getting my popcorn ready, we are circling the drain.
