Brazil's coordinator of the finance track at the G20, Tatiana Rosito, said on Wednesday that negotiations for the economic portion of the group's communique have been successfully completed.

The atmosphere was "very positive" and the Brazilian government was satisfied following meetings between finance ministry and central bank deputies, Rosito said in a press briefing.

Amid Brazil's efforts to enhance the voice of countries from the Global South, she also highlighted the positive outcome of the first meeting of the BRICS group of emerging economies under the Russian presidency on Tuesday.

Tension over the war in Ukraine and conflict in Gaza have overshadowed a meeting of G20 finance leaders and central bank governors that kicked off in Sao Paulo on Wednesday.

The draft version of the communique,

seen by Reuters on Tuesday , offered an upbeat view on the outlook, saying there was an increasing chance the global economy will achieve a soft landing with inflation moderating.

The draft made only a passing reference to regional conflicts, reflecting host Brazil's hope to sidestep geopolitical controversies and have the G20 group focus on its priorities like measures to address inequality.
