China has been and will continue to seek eastern supply for its raw materials from "friendly partners" such as the BRICS members for commodities such as IO Ni Li Mn Co Cu from Indonesia Brasil and Africa. They have been seeking this for a decade now but unable to break the western IO monopoly but have taken a strong Ni monopoly & industrial and textile manufacturing oligopoly globally.

Russia Yugoslavia Iraq Syria have been case studies for China of what the west plans for it too, it took a long 2008 -2014- 2022 for russia to plan and prepare its invasion of ukraine since the shocking georgian war of 2008 and then the kiev maidan of 2014.
Thats 8-14 years of preparations.

In 2014 upon the kiev maidan coup shock, Norilsk quietly sold their $3B in WA Ni assets & other western investments & bonds for nothing on orders from their Govt in preparation for the ukraine war, global sanctions and the invasion they planned in response.

China like russia has commenced preparations and rehearsals to either invade or take control of Taiwan, the South china sea next 50 years & eventually Malaysia/Singapore next century.
This is the assessment of Gordon Chang a china expert & author with which I agree.

Similarly, China has been preparing for western sanctions/blockades with mass US treasuries & assets offloading and introducing its own credit card and swift systems after learning the wests tactics inflicted on Russia. Russia and before it serbia iraq libya syria were the canaries in the gold mine that rang alarm bells for the eastern block.

Thereby, China has NO interest in investing in industry where its assets will be frozen and sanctioned in response to their actions like russia was. They have been divesting and offloading/selling their western assets in preparation for war and sanctions and Gordon Chang has written a whole book on this.

Sorry to burst your theory but its the exact opposite of what you theorise imho.
POS will have these Oz or yankee big boys come after it sooner or later as our assets/mills/mines are top quality and dirt cheap. We already saw this move with the BMM bid for 6.0c in 2018 and the AFAF response that year and in 2008.

IMHO we will see an AGO type scenario play out with POS with 3 big boys vying for it eventually but this time AFAF will have NO say in it at all as he dumped the AGO LTHs inc me into the mud the backstabber allowing GIna to make $20B on it instead of us or even him. LOL.

China will and has slowly exited the western investing market and instead invest in the east/BRICS more and more and sooner or later take more serious action on Taiwan and the South China Sea to enforce its control and ownership much like russia did in Georgia and ukraine. This will lead to western sanctions and an IOP & FMG SP collapse which I predicted years ago.

I also expect the NP to rocket higher as Indo civil war breaks out & western hedgies try to break this Ni monopoly of china by force & I expect the yanks to re-start the indo civil war like they did in the 60s & 70s yet again in response backing the muslim nationalists/anti-sino factions like they did back then.

POS is sitting pretty dirt cheap and didnt lose $1,200M cash like the big boys each lost onNi assets.
Sooner or later one of these big boys will make their move on POS if not planned already imho.
Best thing the CEO can do is gift GMD MINRES POSCO Padley or RIO a stake of 19% at these dirt cheap levels to stuff the big boys oligopolist plans for a cheap bid down the track imho.
Then we will see a bidding war no doubt.

I think PH was planning this all along and has stayed chairman to effectuate the plan imho

Agreed. POS is a sitting duck at these depressed levels. At 4c takeover, they can have the lot for a song!

Smells like AGO..... depressed assets worth a whole lot more than current sp.
