I don't think people who are calling for funding to private schools to be cut quite appreciate how much the current fees already are.
The annual fees for the Grammar school I used to live opposite range from $39k to $46.5K p.a. per student.
That's after tax income so you basically have to earn $80k p.a. before tax to pay that on top of your mortgage, food, electric etc etc.
Cutting funding to zero would increase that pre tax number to $100K+
2 kids at school & that would be $200K+ pre tax
