Much of what you say is correct re umpires
But umpires are still needed on the ground to interact with the players from time.
For example
To warn bowlers for running on the pitch in their follow through
or
To check if the ball is out of shape,
etc.
And
The commentators should mainly just shut up.
Most of what they have to is idle banter an absolute rubbish when a couple of words or silence is all that’s needed.
And the most annoying person of all
is Damien Fleming
when he does that segment standing next to a screen
with a bat in his hand
‘explaining” all sorts of things.
Thank goodness for the remote so I can quickly change the channel.
Or maybe it’s me
just being old an grumpy.
