I don't have faith in evidence - if the topic is important enough to me I question the evidence. I also look for collaborative evidence so that there is more than just one item of evidence. It is not a matter of faith in evidence, but in the confidence I have in the evidence. The level of confidence that I require depends on how important the issue is.

How do you think that the evidence for George Washington stacks up with that for the existence of Jesus Christ? Of course, I'm assuming that as a Christian you would think that the evidence for Jesus Christ is more important than the evidence for George Washington. I could be wrong.

I've never posted on a religion/philosophy thread previously, and I doubt if I will ever make a habit of it. But I'll give many things a go once.

I havn't read your prior posts or much of the thread, so excuse me if I miss your true point.

Regarding the evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ (not his claims), is as stark, if not better, then most important persons of the period: Caesar; Herod, Cleopatra, or going back a bit further, Socrates, who also didn't write anything that we know of.

Trust me when I say, and I am quite qualified to say, that the existence of JC is not really in dispute. If it is here, then there is your reason I won't be commenting further.
