    because if we're talking about big nukes ----------- there's not much coastal land that's cheapand, that's where they would go - on the coast

    The Coalition are talking about replacing existing coal fired power stations with big bespoke nuclear power plants these days.
    They're campaigning to stop new transmission lines over agricultural land and instead spend some of the money subsidising rooftop solar and batteries for rural and regional homes.
    Eraring owned by Origin energy in the Labor held seat of Hunter which is earmarked for closure next year is already connected to the grid.
    There is speculation that Eraring which currently supplies around 18% of NSW electricity will be subsidised by either taxpayers or electricity customers to keep it operating longer seeing that Snowy 2.0 is running behind schedule.
    The subsidy would pay for future maintenance costs to keep it running past it's use by date.
    Some of the area in proximity to the plant is already ugly just like parts of the nearby Newcastle.
