The only reason for the country being in debt is that the people are addicted to welfare. The government doesn't make money it just redistributes it from one place to another.
The 2014 budget proved no one was willing to cope with a reduction in the increase of welfare - they proposals weren't even cuts, just reductions in year-on-year growth. Any discussion was shouted down by leftwing media dog whistles.
