Either he is medically exempt from vaccination according to the guidelines, or he isn't.

It was reported that Vic Health had reviewed, and endorsed, a medical panel's assessment in Victoria that he qualified as exempt, which would likely be acceptable evidence at the border.

Unfortunately, if he only presented a 'double-vaxxed' visa, instead of a 'non-vaxxed plus medical exemption' visa, the only relevant proof he could provide is proof of vacccination, which he hasn't got.

Putting to one-side suspicions some harbour about how an athlete in great shape is unable to tolerate a vaccine, it's a pity, because it appears only to be a 'wrong-visa' technical problem, and his attendance was not solely for his own benefit.

Perhaps he can fly out, get the right visa and fly back, but the situation would be further inflamed if he does that, and maybe he can't be bothered and expediting it at this end (for the economic benefit his attendance brings here) might be just 'too hard'.
