With enough renewable power the excess goes to storage (batteries, pumped hydro, Peak load becomes increasingly far more important than base load. Most industry operates during the day so the load at night is lower. As the uptake of EVs increases their batteries connected to the grid also help to even out the peaks. Most new gas turbines installed now can also run on hydrogen, produced from either electrolysis or methane pyrolysis. gas turbines unlike nuclear plants are easily turned on and off to operate efficiently as leakers
