If they say that Eungella pump hydro is only $22 billion they are flat out lying. I'd be surprise if the real cost is less than $75 billion. When you consider that 3 large dams need to be built 2 of them at over 1000m above sea level.
The current access highway up Eungella range is nowhere near adequate for this type of construction traffic not to mention transporting up the TBM in pieces so it will need major upgrades.
The Tunnels connecting the dams drop like 700m in elevation with a huge 50m-100m wide chasm cut into the end for power turbines.
A 1500km high voltage transmission line is required to Brisbane. God knows how wide the easement will be for that, not to mention the costs of land buy back, workers accommodation, union pay rates, regional cost uplift, etc.
Largest pumped hydro in the world being built in regional Queensland, where the last dam built (paradise) by labor government was a total f***k up and is now being replaced by a completely new concrete spillway cost estimate currently over 2 billion.
