I have always considered that along the way AVB would be a target for a takeover and my guess was Glencore. It is a long way off I feel and looking at past MO's we would see register creep to threshold and well after PB is all proven up, so lots of time to consider, I think. IMO Xstrata knew exactly the potential of what they sold AVB (PB) and the hook holding of 15% always meant they gained a worker bee and retained top preditor spot in my book. I doubt they would have expected another big fish in Blackrock to turn up at the party. Remember what they say about one lawyer in a small town always going broke but if you have two they both get very rich, look upon these two big guys as our lawyers
But good point Jack and I agree a takeover is always possible at any stage.
