Paramedics dispute: Victorian Government increases pay offer in a bid to end industrial stand-off

The Victorian Government has increased its pay offer to the state's paramedics in a bid to end a bitter two-year pay dispute.
The increased offer includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus, increased from $1,500 in the previous offer.
It will also see ambulance officers given a 6 per cent pay increase in 2014 and further increases of 3 per cent in 2015 and again in 2016.
Health Minister David Davis said it was a generous offer.
"I think it's important for the community to know that there's a significant offer," he said.
Premier Denis Napthine urged ambulance officers to accept the deal.
"We believe this is a fair and reasonable pay rise and pay offer for our hard-working paramedics," he said.
The Government also agreed to go to consent arbitration to have the union's work value claim assessed by an independent umpire.
