The border wall was a key campaign promise. If he abandoned it, you could rightly critisize him for that.
As for Macron, people rioting in the streets and his approval rating says it all. He doesn't seem very interested in serving the people, rather he wants to pursue his own agenda. With Trump, at least his agenda is same one he campaigned on.
