more crime committed in australia against australians by australians, than there ever will be by our muslim community..nothing will do more harm to our true australian identity than to incorporate the 'australians v terrorists' mentality into our way of life.. remember that extremism in it's purist form is really a battle for the heart of youth.. whereby the evil/corrupted older person indoctrinates the younger person to the point of having them carry out their extremist orders, rather like older bikie gang members recruit young men only to have them immediately on the front line, committing crime to earn their place.
our young people, disillusioned with life and their own prospects see a risk worth taking..
australia is not defined by Bali or Gallipoli.. but as citizens we pay our respects to those who passed and believe that they did not die in vain and that we will learn from these disasters but also to find a way to move on.. there will always be more wars, disasters, etc etc that our citizens and forces will have to confront.. it's the way we confront it that matters.. that is what defines australia
as for islam, it needs a good shakeout.. modern western values, derived from the separation of church[values] and state[laws], combined with the system of democracy whereby the powers of the executive are separated to a certain extent from the judiciary, form a workable model.. islam has not been able to achieve part one of this model, seperating the [values] from the [laws].. this makes it a difficult religion to form a modern society with.. Indonesia being the only Islamic democracy?
if islam can shake the neanderthal [laws] from it's core without exception, it may have a chance of mounting a credible and powerful vision of society based on it's values.. so long as the values come packaged with the laws, there is no place for this religion in a modern society.. Muslim leadership should denounce these laws and re-define islam as a religion based on values... non-adherance to these values/laws should be voluntary, just as it is in western society with an individual's only accountability being to the law of the state and their own conscience..
