Another aspect I feel should be pretty compelling is the economic decline over recent decades throughout Europe.
Shorten is advocating a repeat of what has crippled Europe in the face of relentless competition from globalisation ... falling or stagnating revenues whilst increasing social policies including welfare beyond what can be paid for in the long term ... witness Greece, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France for starters.
Also, look no further than Germany and its 20 year failed commitment to renewables, notably wind. The biggest growth in Germany's energy sector recently has been coal fired power stations as the country struggles to get energy costs back into a competitive range.
So clearly Shorten hasn't paid attention to recent history in comparable economies, or he feels somehow it will be different in Australia, and here we go headlong into an aspirational 50% renewables and record expenditure on health, education, public housing and more.
Where are our responsible journalists, economists, futurists and switched on voters?
I suspect deep down a majority of voters know or suspect Labor's policy direction is leading to an unfundable crunch ... liken it to Labor cranking up the music for a few more circuits around the musical chairs.

Sorry dex but don't think so, look at the debate last night, Shorten says he will spend more on education and health and he s a winner, thinking about where the money comes from is beyond a lot of voters, its govt money and that means it comes off a tree..
