Well there you go, fortunately it was just a thought bubble
and Turnbull has today expressed he does not favour
the use of super as a deposit by first home buyers.
Just as well because otherwise the Opposition could hammer
him for his expressed views two years earlier where he said in respect
to a similar proposal that it was a very bad idea.
Never-the-less we are told there will be a housing affordability
policy coming up in the May budget. No-one though knows what.
Maybe they need to come up with a new thought bubble.
Its incredible. They could start by winding back negative gearing
on existing homes but continue to allow it for new constructions.
At least new constructions adds to the housing stock and rental market
and provides construction jobs as well as supply chain benefits.
Will they do it? No chance imo, because it was a Labor idea lol.
Tony Abbott was at least able to tweak Rudd’s policy on discouraging
refugee arrivals by boat so he could claim ownership of the success of the
policy. Surely the govt could do something similar and make some
alterations if whats ridiculously holding them back is they don't want
Labor to take any credit. They need to come with something and it had
better be good.
