First I disclose that I embrace the fact of anthropomorphic climate change due to release of greenhouse compounds into the atmosphere. The energising of the atmosphere is a clear and present danger. BUT, I object strongly to the use of “pollution per capita” to apportion blame, particularly to Australia. Reason: it is such a stupid metric in that the number can be reduced by increasing the population rather than reducing pollution. A far more equitable metric would be “pollution per unit of land area”. Then all those finger pointing South Pacific island nations would have to pull their heads in. To propose as they do, (and our dumb lollies comply) that Australia’s tiny output increases sea level only in our vicinity, is nonsense.
