When one stops to think about laws banning polygamy in this day and age, are absurd.

Its ok for a guy to marry one woman, then have as many defactos as he wishes (with or without defactos knowledge or consent).

Of course if it all goes haywire, the government picks up the tab, the ladies all qualify for Centrelink funding etc etc etc.

Come to think of it, even if it doesn't go haywire, all the adults in that scenario end up getting Centrelink funding.

How then is polygamy or bigamy any worse or better?

Why is bigamy outlawed yet all the above is A-Ok.

Ah yes of course....no one wants (or wanted?) to bastardize the word "marriage". That was supposed to be sacrosanct.

Yet same sex marriage promoters are doing just that.
