A member of the public had found the Isuzu D-Max abandoned on a bush track off Chalk Hill Road in Medina on Wednesday afternoon.
However, no one has been apprehended or charged following the terrifying incident as the hunt for the three offenders continues on Thursday, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
Neighbour Alan Atkinson said Mr McCall had been “banged around a bit” during the scuffle.
Mr Atkinson said he ran out to the street to find his neighbour lying face down in the street.
“My wife actually woke me up, I was getting up for work, I was already awake but ... she’d come out saying something’s happening in the street,” Mr Atkinson told 7NEWS.
“So I got dressed and quickly went out and found my good friend, my neighbour Andy, face flat in the cul-de-sac.
“By then there were quite a few neighbours around Andy, one had got a blanket and kept him warm.”

Another neighbour had also stepped in to try to rip a passenger out of the front seat but failed.
Police are urging anyone with information relating to the incident to contact 131 444.
