Pointerra have a patented method for compressing 3D data. This results in less data storage and associated costs (in AWS cloud), as well as reducing the network bandwidth required for retrieving the data (since the data is decompressed in the 3DP web app). This also facilitates retrieving and viewing data on just about any device (even phones and tablets), without the cost of client software licenses and powerful workstations.
That is just the start. Pointerra have only a small development group, but they shown that they are capable of efficiently ingesting customer data into the AWS cloud, and rapidly developing new functionality required by customers. Not to mention that they are able to achieve > 80% (likely close to 90%) gross profit margin.
