switching between channels last night, watso caught part of 60 minutes segment about the production of chicken meat.
it seems that the poor chickens get so fat, so quickly, that there legs cannot carry them - they live in over crowded pens etc etc. maybe the show was an advertising segment for coles - but apparently coles (obviously there suppliers) have decreased the density of the number of chickens in a pen - so that for their short miserable life, they have a slightly better existence.
watso was quite repulsed by the show, and will probably finish the chicken which is in the fridge, then give chicken a miss for a while - and then probably just buy from coles.
coles did have an advertising campaign claiming that their chicken were rspca approved.
watso does not hold any coles shares (or for that matter - wesfarmes, who own coles)
