ABC managing director Mark Scott will order a review of issues covered onQ&A, after facing accusations the program has a left-leaning bias.
Both public broadcasters, the ABC and SBS, faced questions at Senate estimates hearings in Canberra yesterday, with SBS managing director Michael Ebeid revealing the controversial documentary Struggle Street had cost between $250,000 and $400,000 per one-hour episode.
Mr Scott also revealed an investigation into some of the ABC’s budget-week interviews, which were labelled aggressive by Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull, after viewer complaints. “Those complaints are being investigated,” he said. Of cause the interrogations were biased and agressive. Bowen was given s soft interview unlike Joe Hockey.
Mr Scott confirmed in total there would be 400 job losses at the ABC as a result of efficiencies, and said additional savings needed to be made to invest in digital services, which were experiencing “dramatic growth”.
