Many brokers don't have a limit either. Once you have acquired the minimum marketable parcel of $500 you can acquire as few or as many shares as you like. You could probably get around that $100 rule with commsec by calling them, the only reason they don't allow it on the platform is solely because it makes zero sense considering the large brokerage fee they charge per trade. This is a rule for all investors though, it's set by the ASX not individual brokers, so institutional investors also need the minimum marketable parcel of $500 though before can buy/sell smaller parcels
