    It would be "A crime against humanity" to insist that Greece repay that debt. They couldn't do it if they sold their children, and grandchildren into eternal servitude. The crime was lending them so much, starting years ago. The bankers should take a big haircut, but I suspect they have handballed the obligations off to pension funds by now.

    Kicking them out of the EU wold be like kicking your disabled child out of home. They are Europe's problem and they must solve Greece's problems in a humane manner.

    As an example, the US allowed Japan a threadbare coat of honour after they surrendered and that was far cheaper than eternal conflict. Greece, at least never went to war. maybe they should have.
