There were two rail lines from Orange to Dubbo. One is still in use including the XPT, the other branched off at Molong and is the line you are looking at. It is very easy to follow on google earth and obviously quite a bit of track has gone. It is a very windy track but the corridor appears to be intact. Only major engineering looks to be the MacQ bridge. If you want to run trains from Toongi, the obvious choice is the shorter route to Dubbo including the river bridge.
