I've got a year or two before I buy a place in Perth as my kids will be going to high school. Going to keep my current house as I need it for work.
My accountant said great you will be able to write off heaps.

Got a new accountant who ran through my options( glad I did).
It's not worth the risk trying to fiddle.
You may get lucky and never get audited but I know one bloke who's been done by the taxman 3 caught twice and dodged a bullet on the last. He could afford to lose a house and did.
