How can Genesis be a literal story? You went to school, you live in the real world Created by God, so why does it then have to be some other kind of world to fit the magical reality of the Genesis story?
Snakes do not talk.
Humans have been around for hundreds-of-thousands of years.
Human nature is what it is and was not effected by the eating of a forbidden fruit.
Humans have always died and always will.
Floods do not consume an entire planet and then dissipate as if nothing has happened.
The days of Adam and Noah were days just like ours, nature obeyed its God given laws just the same as now.
Why does your version of God hinge on a belief that contradicts reality, science and Creation itself? Reality is God's reality. Science is a gift from God to further appreciate the wonders of Creation and this version of Creation we live in is the same one that has always existed, sure it evolves, but that is God's plan, evolution is a tool of Creation.
When you claim that Genesis is literal, a time when all the laws of nature, science and reality were broken, then what is this version of reality, God's fever dream?
Genesis is symbolic, it attempts to express grand spiritual concepts, for which there is no language, into impressions of the Grandeur and scope of God and His Creative Majesty. Is that not good enough for you?
