Your guess is only partly correct. I'm saying two things. One. I don't think we should take the entire book literally. Two. 2,000 years ago I think that they got some things wrong which is not surprising given that we still do.
The vast majority don't think that the Earth is flat so using that as a criteria I think that your wish is granted and the majority have moved on. I agree that we are lucky that we have an education based on science but in my opinion, for many of us morally we are still a train wreck. So many choose to stay in the dark ages? do you mean those who disagree with you or something else?
