The Church sees this universal call to holiness as applying to all believers - "priests, laity, married people or celibates.", "There is no such thing as an 'ordinary layman', for all of you have been called to conversion through the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. All Christians are called to be "a royal priesthood, a holy nation" and to profess their faith as witnesses of Christ.
