I agree that homosexual acts in those countries can carry a death sentence.
However, these countries are or were until recently economically and socially well behind most Western countries. As they develop they will adopt modern attitudes towards sexuality.
Homosexuality wasn't decriminalised in Scotland until 1980 and until 1861 carried the death penalty also.
It is difficult to compare the criminal codes of various countries and they all have idiosyncrasies that seem unfair to us.
For example Singapore has the highest execution rate in the world at 14 executions per 100,000 people. There is capital punishment for drug trafficking , discharging a firearm even without causing death and rape.
The execution rate in the United States is lower but because of mandatory sentencing laws in the United States has resulted in the highest per capita prison population in the world. It is 5 times the rate of Australia and far higher than Muslim countries. It is 12 times the rate of Indonesia, 20 times the rate of Pakistan and 4 times the rate of Malaysia.
American gun laws result in 85 US citizens dying from guns every day. This is 11 times the rate of Australia.
The United States legal system is not associated with a safer society. Homicide in the United States is 4 times that of Australia, 8 times that of Indonesia the worlds largest Muslim country and 2 times that of Libya, Tunisia, Lebanon and Syria.
In Australia the imprisonment rate for indigenous people is by far the highest in the world. 26% Of prisoners are Aborigine although they only account for 2% of the population. Even more scandalous is the fact that 1 Aborigine dies every two weeks in an Australian prison and many were imprisoned for trivial matters.
Australians therefor should be the last to criticise the legal system of third world countries such as the Sudan or the Yemen.
So there are aspects of the legal system of many countries that one can criticise.
