"Are you suggesting that every Muslim in Australia is some sort of monster with no other purpose than to destroy everything Australian. I would say that there is only a small minority of misguided Muslims that take this view. Muslims are just people like us with real concerns about what is happening around the world and how that will effect them in Australia."

I think that you may have misunderstood me. I have nothing much against muslims en mass as long as they are in their own country. I have nothing against individual muslims here.......but that's not what I am talking about.
My point is simply that muslim immigration to Australia is a very bad idea. Numbers matter. A few from anywhere regardless of their assimilability or cultural compatibility means nothing, large numbers of culturally incompatible migrants means only problems.
You may have noticed that people behave differently en mass than individually. Mohammed down the road may be a good bloke, but when he is part of a 1 million or 2 million person community that then has their own schools, businesses, political organizations, quasi legal systems, members of parliament, then demands for special status in various ways, then refusals to recognise various parts of Australian law and customs....what ya gonna do about it then? No solution....and all for nothing.

"We live in a multi-cultural democratic society, therefore we are ALL bound by its ideology. It would be hypocritical to include certain race and religions and exclude and discriminate against the other.(by definition of multi-cultural)"

As for the democratic bit I would say that we live in a pseudo democracy whereby we have the appearance of democracy with voting etc but all real decisions are made out of sight(and oversight) of the electorate. Compare that with a real democracy eg. Switzerland where citizens get to decide all issues and can(and do) overturn legislation. Just recently the Swiss citizenry decided against further immigration and the government was forced to accept the people's decision.
I am not bound by any ideology. I do not believe in multiculturalism and do not support it. There is nothing wrong with excluding certain races or religions if in fact we need immigration in the first place. If you do not believe that then you should surely support the immigration rights of New Guinea headhunters, eskimo tribes or virtually anyone else, regardless of their compatibility with our culture. That would mean an open door policy. If you support that then perhaps you could show examples of where that has been tried(other than Ghengis Khan and Attila the Hun) and how that has worked out. Perhaps you'd also like to show examples of what you consider successful longstanding multicultural societies.

"How can we justify not trying to find a solution for a better future? We may or may not end up with the problems that Europe have. Would you be suggesting that we pick up our pitch forks and as one hatful mob we send all the Muslims packing? Well I don't see that as a answer either."
...................................................................................
In order to find a way to a better future, we first need to define what *better* actually means. Is a multicultural society better than a monocultural society and if so then why?
As for sending muslims packing, I'd say that when one has dug oneself into a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging. Bring no more in for a start.....and no more family reunion BS.
As for your reference to "hateful".....it's not about hate , or love either, it's about a policy decision for the future harmony of our society. You seem to brush off the possibility that current policy may have a negative outcome such as has occurred in Europe.
Almost any other problem is easily fixable compared to problems that can be created by ideologically driven immigration problems.
What do you propose doing then if it it does indeed turn pearshaped as per Europe...race war??? I ask that as that is where Europe is headed. Isn't it better to avoid the whole problem from the beginning with a little clear thinking?
cheers

I do see your point and I do agree that we need policies that reflect/define Australian culture in order to preserve and protect it.
As for a solution well I would not know where to begin nor do I feel I'm smart enough to conceive one. Perhaps we should be asking our government officials to put their thinking caps on to provide a viable solution.
Thanks for your thoughts
