Stronger currency backed by what ???... USD peg ??? Which of course post '71 is backed only by 'faith in the US Govt' & a revolving Treasury Note credit scam linked to a printing press. That It's lasted this long is due to Kissinger's brilliant petrodollar move '73. Of course, any upstarts along the way not playing the 'rules based' game were sanctioned, subjected to 'colour' revolutions or simply bombed into submission.... until now. It's peer vs peer & the 'rules based international order' is headed for the dustbin of history. For the few here who have concentration spans exceeding that of a butterfly..... My 2c view (before the real inflation destroys even that value) is that the rouble is now backed by commodities. The Rus CB is SWIFT sanctioned from accepting payment for their coin using any of the IMF basket fiats... euro, sterling, yen or usd....would be silly anyway as such would immediately be frozen (stolen!!). Leaves only the yuan.... or another commodity AU... don't it. Luckily, there's been 2 alternative Intn'l interbank payment systems in play since about 2014... 1 Rus & 1 Chinese.... Look for these systems (announcement) to be united by (maybe) the end of this month, with already some 140 countries on board. Don't know that China would be much interested in dealing with any IMF basket (case) fiat either?? as those Govt. Bonds are merely IOU's held within the issuing countries..... & therefore subject to further sucks from the sanctions bottle. So that leaves only AU (or the lesser AG for us greater unwashed to use). Can't trust LBMA, LME nor CME Comex..... so SGE looks like it initially, & maybe Dubai ? (who is on board already anyway)..... payment up front & physically delivered thanks.... (Congress is looking to apply sanctions on Ruski gold held in Kremlin vaults????) Wow... US Congress has just 2 moving parts... mouth hole & ass hole, both of which are interchangeable..... Give 'em a bugle each & combine them with the dick that can play the piano (whose untalented appendage became Uke Pres.)..... What an ensemble. This is the big picture, of which only very few here seem to be aware. It has been planned/in play, for quite a time now.

Of course, the missing bits is where most of the known measured (& largely unexplored) ever depleting natural resources reside. The hegemon invoked sanctions will probably end the already insolvent European Union run by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels in cahoots with the ditto mad dog NATO, BIS, WEF, IMF. WHO et al. The broke & totally corrupt US centipede has probably also shot itself in 99 of its feet. Good riddance. Also, RCB has not yet really delivered any sort of full response to sanctions imposed. They'll be completely out of left field.
Very, very sadly, it's always been the innocents that pay dearly in blood when Empires (hegemons') self-destruct. Ukraine has never been a nation in its own right, the current borders being just arbitrarily assigned post Warsaw Pact 1993. It's history (as with most of Europe) is a veritable melting pot of a myriad of cultures, creeds, races, languages & religions. Ukraine is only but 1 piece of a 10k piece jigsaw. Many holding this piece think that's all there is.... Sorry but nope.. History will define the picture for you.... so fascinating in its real simplicity.
Multipolar Eurasian is the new player, but historically, old empires always seem to slash & burn everything on retreat. Ironically 'tho US, taken from its natives & colonised by disenfranchised continentals & formed into a progressive Republic, had a great relationship with Russia & Eurasia once.
