We are seeing the same "sense of entitlement" and the same delusion as to what is possible .....at least as far as Japan was concerned . But there are big differences : 1. russia are very much ON THEIR OWN ! little help , and what help is payed for not gifted , no military support with troops from other countries 2.russia aren't technicially advanced as Germany ,aren't united and dedicated to the cause as Germany were , aren't s efficient as Germany and Germany weren't mired in corruption . Japan less so for some but similar . 3.Germany and Japan were very powerful nations .......russia apart from her nukes very much a second rate power militarily and econmically (and the latter is needed to sustain the former and the reason why Japan never had a chance against the US ) the problem for russia is that putin never appreciated that russia WERE second rate ......in his mind they were still a super power Ukraine said ....Nyet .....FO out of our country and russia despite much superior air and naval support is stymied !

The man must have been deaf dumb and blind not to know how second rate their outfit was /is. He thought he had a chance, a slim one, with the help of threatening nuclear, of bluffing through. Casualties ? Sorry..he just got stone deaf.
