spoke to a ukrainian working in Sydney about the Ukraine war. He has relatives and friends in Ukraine and he speaks to them regularly. He says the general population is depressed and scared as they see they dont have enough soldiers to provide a viable defense on the front line. Quite a few male ukranians are now hiding so they wont be conscripted as many of their friends are either wounded or dead. They are event looking to recruit retired men over 50-60 who are not really suited to military. Most dont have any military experience. They are mortified that the USA and Donald Trump (republican party) does not have any priority for assistance to Ukraine and the funding delay has resulted in a shortage of weapons and ammunition.
It looks like the Putin strategy of gradual wearing down western support is working. However the europeans may need to think of the consequences of Putin winning this "special military action" as they may be next in the firing line. And given USAs reluctance to continue funding what would happen if the republicans win the next election?
