The US/UK/EU or who ever elsr you attach blame to did not meddle in Ukrainian affairs, Putin has the demonstrated history (and preset) of meddling in Ukraine.
Instead of using that immense oil and gas wealth to create a free, democratic and wealthy Russia that Ukraine would want to be a part of Putin recreated the corrupt decrepit fascist mafia state that was the Soviet Union that Ukraine clearly rejected
