The obvious way to attack Odessa would be from the Black Sea but I guess Russia is not confident that it can protect its warships or subs due to the range/capabilities of Ukrainian defences .
Its interesting that Russia hasn't yet wiped out Odessa's grain storage facilities for economic reasons . Perhaps, again, the Ukraine has superior defence systems in that region?
