losing this war will cost the Russian Federation and their current leadership more (politically and economically) is the thinking.....
Russia doesn't need imported food or raw materials to survive and over time they can develop industries to replace western supplied goods and services driving their economy in new directions and diversity.
The west cant magic up food and raw materials but Russia doesn't have a monopoly on anything - so thats just a price hike in the west (inflation) and poor folks miss out.
There will be a new cold war and the balance will be good to avoid any one side getting drunk on a power trip like the US did after 1990.
