Turns out the false-flag FSB apartment bombings they said was done by Chechens, was actually part of a war on Russia by the USA in the 1990's, and they couldn't say, until now, bwahaha. A flimsy, contrived pretext for one war, now re-purposed for another war, decades later!
He also said they need to reconstruct journalism, with censorship, but keep 'freedom, and all that'. Sheesh, the guy was on a roll. There was so much else in there to rip into.
It was bizarre. Russia is such a chaotic state, it's hard to believe.
Fact is, the post-communist reformation in Russia never progressed past gangsterism because the massive state wealth went to a kgb coterie + new friends, who knew how to brutally hang on to it.
Contrast it with E.Germany, where greedy Western capitalists snapped it up on the cheap. The transition was cruel, but the place gradually modernised and operates under the rule of law.
Capitalism is no free picnic, it needs regulation and redistributive taxation to some degree, and people need democratic institutions to ensure their freedoms. Operated by thugs and bound-up inextricably with corruption as in Russia, it just results in fascism.
Ukraine was corrupt because it was also passing through the same capital-transfer process, as did all the other satellite communist States, but it didn't want to replicate Russia's dismal fate.
