    Hell, I can say the alternate that Putin doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO because Russia will want to invade Ukraine at some time and this has always been about territory. NATO was established due to the Cold War and works on the fundamental principle of inclusion so smaller countries, particularly in Europe, can get protection against Russia's threat of invasion again.

    So if they agree, what's to stop Russia from telling NATO the same has to be applied for other small European countries like Moldova and Georgia (also previous part of USSR) so they can invade them in the future for even more territory.

    This assertion is more plausible isn't it since Ukraine is way more democratic country so the citizen will protest against any unprovoked war and the government ousted (why would any Ukraine President now or in the future want to do this and risk their career taking back Crimea for what???).
