Zelenskyy announces security agreement with Italy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced he's signed a security agreement with Italy's prime minister after a meeting earlier today.

The Ukrainian president welcomed a number of Western leaders to Kyiv to mark the second anniversary of the war, taking them to Hostomel airfield this morning.

He said he had a "meaningful" meeting with Giorgia Meloni and the bilateral security cooperation agreement was an "important result".

"This document establishes a solid foundation for our countries' long-term security partnership," he added.

"I am grateful to Italy for its support of Ukraine and our defence capabilities, as well as recovery efforts and approval of military aid until the end of 2024."

Mr Zelenskyy has also met Alexander De Croo, the Belgian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, and Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission.
