IMO what you don't get is: -Nato is Russia's enemy and vice versa and this war has re-confirmed that -That Russia opposes Nato further encroachment in the SE, namely Georgia, Ukraine & Moldova -That NATO was hell bent on recruiting those 3 -That Russia snookered Nato in recruiting those 3 by "engineering" border disputes -So far that has worked ,,,Georgia, Ukraine & Moldova have border disputes which bars them from NATO membership
I agree that Sweden & Finland was a big negative for Russia by them joining/allowed to join NATO.
So with respect to NATO expansion, Nato has won by recruiting Sweden & Finland but the jury is out with respect to the Ukraine, Georgia & Moldova.
And IMO,that's what this war is all about.
Sure there are other agenda's like: -US need to weaken Russia so that it can't afford to maintain its Nukes -US need to weaken the EU which it sees as fundamentally Socialist (That's why it backed Brexit) -US need to weaken the Euro...the Greenback's competitor for Global Reserve Currency . (remember Iran was invaded months after it dumped the USD in favour of the Euro in oil & gas sales) -And then there's the beneficiaries of war (just check out those who benefitted from the Iraq war? -Putin regime's need to be seen domestically as being strong and fiercely defending the motherland etc, etc etc etc.
I realise that there are many in this thread who only see this war through the Hollywood lenzes of Good Guy'Bad Guy but unfortunately that not how Geopolitics and Global Capitalism Works (PS: IMO Russia is a mix of State Capitalism & Crony Oligarchs ) - -
