The mentally ill comment - but of the perpetrators - has more significance here than most care to consider...

That position (their state of mind) should indeed be delved into and further debated and openly case studied.
The state of mind of so many has been screwed with by their religion.
Given the wrong environment, all of us are potentially able to be mentally broken. However, thankfully most of us are either resilient enough or not exposed to the type of conditions (consistently long or dangerous enough) that have the potential to damage us mentally.
Clearly Islam (under certain conditions) has greater potential than other religions to break and twist people's minds and therefore in many cases, create walking time bombs.
This is the issue that needs to be investigated and this is the point that needs to be taken up every time the PC blame one of these crimes on mental illness...

Anyone wonder what happened to the french man, Smail Ayad who was supposed to go to court in October over the backpacker murder of Mia Ayliffe-Chung in Townsville? Look it up - he has been deemed a schizophrenic so looks like he will never face charges.
Yes - Schizophrenic - why? I contend he like so many others has been pushed over the edge by his religion.
This religion and many of its teachers need to be studied and investigated further and ultimately charged as the cause for twisting so many people's minds into such irrational and dangerous states. This religion ultimately needs to be charged with mental violence & torture and it must be either locked up or heavily controlled.
Interestingly, Islam operates under a watchful eye (banning certain preachers and mosques and recording the goings on in other mosques) in Muslim countries like Egypt for the above reasons. We need to follow that lead as a starting point and separately begin investigating the religion itself.
